Steel detailing is an integral part of the construction industry - the link between the Architect's vision and the Engineer's demonstration of the strength of materials.

In the process of steel detailing, we identify design flaws and detail oversights. Because of our ability to create a 3D to a millimetre accuracy, we provide confidence throughout the entire project.

Using 3D modelling software to generate steel shop drawings ensures a higher level of accuracy, as every member, connection, and penetration is derived directly from a coordinated digital model. This reduces clashes and fabrication errors, streamlining both workshop production and on-site erection. It also enables faster revisions and clearer visualisation, improving communication between designers, fabricators, and installers.
NC files (Numerical Control files) are machine-readable instructions that guide CNC machines to cut, drill, and mark steel components based on data from detailing software. They streamline fabrication by improving accuracy, reducing manual work, and minimising errors.
A flat plate DXF is the exact 2D profile of a plate (including cuts, holes, and edges) in a format that CNC machines can read directly. It allows plates to be cut accurately and efficiently - typically via laser, plasma, or waterjet without manual interpretation, reducing errors and speeding up production.
With the intuitive reporting of our detailing software, we can produce comprehensive tabulated lists of every material for procurement and steel finish estimation. With our expertise with the software, we can also provide customized lists tailored to the client's specific requirements.
Precast and tilt-up panel shop drawings are generated using the same 3D modelling software employed for steel detailing, ensuring seamless coordination between panels and structural steel. Through the capabilities of advanced 3D modelling, correct geometry, reinforcement layouts, cast-in ferrules, penetrations, grout tubes, and all associated connection hardware are accurately incorporated into the shop drawings.

Lydor Steel was established in 2017 by Benson Castro, who brought more than a decade of industry experience as a steel detailer. His extensive background laid the foundation for a company built on technical expertise, precision, and reliability.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team transitioned to a fully remote setup - an approach that proved more effective and efficient than anticipated. Even post-pandemic, our staff chose to maintain this work-from-home model, achieving flexibility while maintaining high productivity and consistency that our clients value.

LYDOR STEEL is a team of experienced detailers and checkers. We pride ourselves in our skilled structural detailing team with more than a decade of experience in the industry and have completed projects within the commercial, residential and governmental sectors. Our competent steel detailers provide detailed and clear RFIs to identify and rectify issues in the project.
